1. about us

secondhand-ceramics ("we," "us," "our") operates an online marketplace based in Singapore that sources and resells unclaimed pottery and ceramic pieces from independent partner pottery studios. We act as a facilitator and reseller, not as a manufacturer or the original creator of any item listed on our platform.

2. sourcing & ownership

2.1 Items listed on our platform are sourced from independent pottery studios in Singapore ("Partner Studios") that have classified the items as unclaimed inventory.

2.2 An item is considered unclaimed when it has remained uncollected by the original maker beyond the holding period agreed between secondhand-ceramics and the relevant Partner Studio. Holding periods are determined by individual studio policies and may vary between studios.

2.3 secondhand-ceramics obtains the right to list and sell unclaimed items through its commercial agreements with Partner Studios. secondhand-ceramics does not independently verify legal title or ownership beyond the confirmation provided by the Partner Studio.

2.4 If an individual claims to be the original maker of a listed or sold item, they may contact us at secondhandceramics@gmail.comwith supporting evidence (such as a maker's mark, studio receipt, or other reasonable proof). secondhand-ceramics will assess such claims on a case-by-case basis and, at its discretion, may return an unsold item to the claimant. Once an item has been sold and delivered to a customer, secondhand-ceramics is not obligated to recall or repurchase the item, but will work in good faith with the claimant and, where appropriate, the studio to resolve the matter.

2.5 Nothing in these Terms constitutes a legal warranty of title. secondhand-ceramics recommends that customers review this section and contact us with any questions prior to purchase.

3. nature of goods & product condition

3.1 All products listed on secondhand-ceramics are handmade, artisanal, and sourced from uncollected inventories held by independent third-party pottery studios. You acknowledge that artisan ceramics naturally feature variations in colour, size, texture, glaze, and finish. These characteristics are inherent to the craft and do not constitute manufacturing defects.

3.2 Each item is assigned a condition grade before listing, based on reasonable visual evaluation:

• Grade A (Pristine) — Excellent glaze coverage, no cracks or chips. Suitable for daily use or gifting.
• Grade B (Minor Flaws) — Fully functional with minor aesthetic imperfections such as slight warping or uneven glaze.
• Grade C (Decorative / Wabi-Sabi) — Visible hairline cracks or noticeable warping. Not suitable for holding liquids; recommended for decorative use, trinket dishes, or planters with a liner.
• Grade D (Studio Artifacts) — Heavily flawed experimental pieces. Generally not offered for sale.

3.3 Customers are responsible for reviewing the grading, photographs, and descriptions provided in each product listing before purchasing.

3.4 Buyers of Grade B and Grade C items accept that such items are sold with explicit prior disclosure of cosmetic flaws or structural limitations and waive the right to seek remedies for those disclosed attributes.

3.5 Unless explicitly stated as "Food Safe" in the product description, items should be treated as decorative or for dry use only. secondhand-ceramics makes no representation that items not marked "Food Safe" are suitable for contact with food or beverages, and disclaims liability for any use inconsistent with this guidance. To preserve artisanal glazes, we recommend handwashing all items and avoiding microwave and dishwasher use.

4. orders & availability

4.1 All items are one-of-a-kind. Adding an item to your cart does not reserve it; an order is only confirmed upon successful completion of checkout and receipt of a confirmation email.

4.2 Due to the unique nature of our inventory, we cannot guarantee the availability of similar or replacement items once a piece has sold.

4.3 We reserve the right to cancel or refuse any order, including in cases of pricing errors, suspected fraud, or unavailability of stock, and will notify the customer and issue a refund where applicable.

5. pricing & payment

5.1 All prices are listed in Singapore Dollars (SGD). Applicable taxes, if any, will be indicated at checkout.

5.2 Payment must be completed in full at the time of order through the payment methods made available on our website.

5.3 We reserve the right to correct pricing errors and to cancel orders affected by such errors, with a full refund provided.

6. shipping & delivery

6.1 We ship island-wide within Singapore using third-party courier services (including but not limited to NinjaVan and Qxpress).

6.2 As items may be located at different Partner Studios, orders comprising multiple items may be shipped separately and may incur additional shipping charges, as reflected at checkout.

6.3 Estimated processing and delivery times are provided for guidance only and are not guaranteed. secondhand-ceramics is not liable for delays caused by third-party couriers or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

7. self-collection

7.1 Selected items may be available for self-collection from the relevant Partner Studio. Collection details will be provided after order confirmation.

7.2 Customers must not attend a studio for collection without prior confirmation from secondhand-ceramics, as certain studios operate by appointment only.

7.3 Orders must be collected within 14 days of the pickup confirmation notice. Items not collected within this period may be subject to storage limitations, additional fees, or cancellation at secondhand-ceramics's discretion.

8. returns, refunds & damaged items

8.1 Items are sold on an "As-Is" and "As-Available" basis. As all items are one-of-a-kind, all sales are final. We do not accept returns or exchanges for change of mind.

8.2 If an item arrives damaged due to transit, customers must notify us at secondhandceramics@gmail.com within 48 hours of delivery, with photographic evidence of the item and its original packaging. Verified claims will be eligible for a full refund or, where available, a replacement.

8.3 secondhand-ceramics reserves the right to request additional information or evidence to assess a damage claim.

9. limitation of liability

9.1 To the maximum extent permitted by the laws of Singapore, secondhand-ceramics and its Partner Studios shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the purchase, use, handling, or breakage of any item sold through our platform.

9.2 Our total liability in connection with any order shall not exceed the amount paid by the customer for that order.

9.3 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable Singapore law, including under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act.

10. intellectual property

10.1 All content on our website, including text, images, logos, and branding, is the property of secondhand-ceramics or its licensors and may not be reproduced without prior written permission.

10.2 The original designs, stamps, or maker-marks on ceramic items belong exclusively to their respective creators or Partner Studios. Buyers do not acquire any intellectual property or reproduction rights upon purchasing an item.

10.3 Listing an item for sale on our platform does not transfer any intellectual property rights the original maker may hold in the design or artistic work.

11. privacy & personal data

11.1 Our collection and use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, available upon request at secondhandceramics@gmail.com, and is handled in accordance with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

12. changes to these terms

12.1 We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on our website with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of our website following any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. governing law & dispute resolution

13.1 These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by, interpreted, and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore.

13.2 Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms, or the breach thereof, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
